The sweet potato originally hails from the tropical regions of the Americas. It's all the more delightful that we can now grow this fantastic tuber in the cooler northern regions of Germany. Because sweet potatoes are a true superfood, brimming with valuable nutrients and antioxidants. By cultivating them locally, we can eliminate the need for long transportation routes, providing a high-quality, fresh, and healthy product - grown with great care and joy. This not only adds diversity to the Heath of Lüneburg but also reflects our commitment to sustainability and quality.

WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE DO
I'm Sönke, an organic farmer from Bad Bevensen in the Heath of Lüneburg in the North of Germany. In 2015, I took over our family farm. I live and breathe agriculture, and together with my wife Anna, we've discovered the sweet potato for ourselves. Since 2016, we've been working hard to cultivate them on our own fields - It hasn't been easy, as they thrive in warm climates, require plenty of water, and need ample time to develop. But we did it, and now we're among the first farms in our region to grow them!
