Ingredients for 4 servings
- approx. 2 medium to large sweet potatoes
- 1 tbsp butter
- 100 ml milk
- Salt and pepper
- Nutmeg
- Cayenne powder
- Garlic powder
- Cinnamon
- Parsley for decoration
1. Peel the sweet potatoes, cut into pieces and cook in lightly salted water for about 15 minutes - the sweet potatoes can get very soft. When the sweet potatoes are cooked and soft, drain the water.
2. Put the pot back on the still warm stove and let the potatoes steam off a little. Then add the butter and let it melt. Now add salt, pepper, nutmeg, a little garlic and cayenne pepper to taste and mash the sweet potatoes with a masher. Add milk until the desired consistency is reached.
3. Season again with the spices and finally add a pinch of cinnamon - use very careful amounts.
4. Serve the sweet potato mash and sprinkle with some parsley.
The mash goes wonderfully with beef fillet and barbecue sauce.
Tip:
If the mash tastes too sweet, you can mix the sweet potatoes with potatoes as you like. However, let the potatoes cook for longer.
